Juliet Haffner, leader of New York Strings and Orquesta Nova, has contracted musicians for motion pictures, recording sessions, television and live concerts. Working as a violist and violinist in New York, Juliet has access to New York's finest musicians who perform in every genre: classical, baroque, Latin, jazz, ethnic, and swing, among others.

Orquesta Nova

Juliet Haffner leads the group, Orquesta Nova: a classical chamber ensemble specializing in the music of Latin America, Puerto Rico and Cuba. They have recorded two CDs on the Chesky label: "Orquesta Nova" and "Salon New York" which feature tangos, milongas and danzas by such composers as Astor Piazzolla and Jobim. The group has performed at Weill Recital Hall, the Miller Theater, and on the Sonidas de las Americas - Beyond Tango Festival presented by the American Composers Orchestra.

New York Strings

New York Strings is a string ensemble specializing in classical music and popular music of the thirties and forties. From Vivaldi and Mozart to Gershwin and Cole Porter, this versatile group can play as a classical string quartet, a jazz trio with violin, bass and guitar or a string quartet with bass and guitar.

From cocktails to dinner and dancing, New York Strings is perfect for any special event, dinner party or wedding.

Clients have included: New York Commodities Exchange at the Waldorf, Air France at the Rainbow Room, Citibank at Museum of Modern Art, Poets and Writers, Inc.at the Puck Building, Brazilian Chamber of Commerce at the Plaza Hotel, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens Gala, Whitney Museum Christmas party, New York City Opera Gala at Lincoln Center, and many other special events. They have performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Coe Hall/Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, Snug Harbor, Hennessy Jazz Festival with Paquito D'Rivera, Jonathan Schwartz show, IBM Salutes to the Arts-WQXR, and on twenty five concerts for Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert Series around New York City.

Juliet Haffner performs regularly as a violist with the New York City Ballet Orchestra at Lincoln Center, The American Composers Orchestra and has performed numerous times at Carnegie Hall. She received her Master's Degree from the Juilliard School of Music.
