METAMORPHIC WINDS was formed in 2004 in order to perform all genres of woodwind
Chamber music in styles ranging from classical to jazz to light pop. Our members perform
on Broadway as well as with area chamber ensembles and orchestras. We have
performed all over the New York tri-state area in venues as diverse as The Festival of Arts
in Nyack, NY to the Womenʼs Club of Englewood, NJ.
Our core members are:
CHRISTINE MACDONNELL (soprano saxophone & oboe)
Christine is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Christine received her Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from The Juilliard School. New York area performances include PaperMill Playhouse Radio City Music Hall, Albany Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Northeast Philharmonic Orchestra, and others. National performances include the Walnut Theatre and The Philly Pops in Philadelphia, John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, Georgia State University, and Atlanta's Fox Theatre. Christine has performed and lectured locally and performed abroad as principal clarinet in the Orquestra Sinfonica Brasileira in Brazil and the Nova Philharmonia Portuguesa in Portugal. Just recently she was a featured clarinet artist in the V Festival International de Sopros in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has served two US Presidents in the "President's Own" Marine Band.
Christine has toured nationally with productions such as “Phantom of the Opera”, “Miss Saigon”, “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, and “Falsettos”. A popular freelance musician in NYC, and Broadway regular on shows such as “Aladdin”, “Bronx Tale”, “Phantom of the Opera”, and “The Lion King “, she also plays with numerous chamber ensembles, accompanying artists such as Bernadette Peters, Florence Henderson, Aretha Franklin, and Frank Sinatra, Jr. Currently she serves as a woodwind instructor at the United Nations International School, as well as conducting master classes at various universities within the United States. She has been interviewed and featured on WPFW, Jazz and Justice Radio in Washington, DC, and on Clarinet Corner, Troy University Public Radio. Her two classical CDs, "Enchanted Saint Saens" and "Clarinet Rhapsody" have been hailed as "beautifully played and well-deserved of its title". Her latest recording, "Chris' Journey, A Whimsical Collage of Music", is a piece specifically written for her.It is very unique in that one artist, Christine MacDonnell, is performing all 11 woodwinds depicting various styles. MIKKI RYAN (alto saxophone & clarinet)
After earning a Bachelor of Music degree from Boston University and a Master of Music
degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, Mikki moved to Florida to perform
with the Sarasota Opera Orchestra. Cast in an Off-Broadway musical, she relocated to
New York City. Currently, Mikki substitutes in the orchestras of Broadway musicals,
including the “Lion King” and “Wicked”. She has toured most of Asia, Europe and the
United States with several different Broadway shows. She also performs or has performed
with numerous orchestras, including New York Pops, Albany Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, DiCapo Opera, Metropolitan Repertory Ballet Orchestra, Warner Brotherʼs Symphony, Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra, Spoleto Festival Orchestra among others. Mikki has helped develop and perform educational programs with ensembles on the roster of Young Audiences of New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. She writes and performs original music as the Minstrel in “Bard and Minstrel Storytellers”, and is the music contractor for JestMaster Productions, Inc. She can be heard performing with the Kalmen Opperman Clarinet Choir on Richard Stoltzmanʼs recording “Aria”, and has appeared on “Today” and “Good Morning America”.
GIUSEPPE FUSCO (tenor saxophone & flute)
Giuseppe is a freelance woodwind artist in the NYC area. He is currently playing saxophone, flute, and clarinet in Broadway's “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Additional Broadway orchestra credits include “Honeymoon in Vegas” (2015) and “Anything Goes” (2011). Giuseppe has also held a position in the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular” orchestra in four of its recent productions, including the current 2017 production. As an orchestral musician, he has performed concerts with the Little Orchestra and the Colonial Symphony. Giuseppe is currently on adjunct woodwind faculty at New Jersey City University. An avid chamber musician, he performs and curates a concert series in various NJ venues with Chamber Music Society of North Jersey. Giuseppe holds degrees from Rutgers University and New Jersey City University.
DEVIN DI MAURO (baritone saxophone & bassoon)
Multi-instrumentalist Devin Di Mauro enjoys playing woodwinds for many styles of music. He has held positions in the “Radio City Spring and Christmas Spectacular” and took over the Reed 2 chair at “Finding Neverland”. Di Mauro has also performed in the pit orchestras for the New York City Ballet and Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice. His teachers include Ron Jannelli, Krassimir Ivanov and Philip Pandolfi on bassoon and Ed Joffe, James Houlik and Richard Page on saxophone/clarinet.
Services Description
METAMORPHIC WINDS is a versatile woodwind group. We can be available as soloists, duo, trio, quartet or quintet. We can also add a vocalist and/or drum set. We have experience performing in concert settings, corporate events, weddings and private parties. Please contact us with any questions. We look forward to making your event special.
