Bio

Matthew Croft is a music director, keyboardist, conductor, and orchestrator. Originally from the Detroit area, he now resides in the NY/NJ area. He started playing piano professionally at the age of 12, and has worked extensively in theatre as a music director, pianist, and orchestrator. While studying composition at Wayne State University in Detroit, he was given the chance to write music for the Detroit Red Wings 2009 Banner Raising Ceremony; this was broadcast nationwide on Fox Sports and in Canada on CBC. After school, he worked for 10 years a church music director while working on dozens of musicals. In 2014, after working at Meadow Brook Theatre (Michigan's Largest Equity Theatre), he was offered the associate conductor chair on the National Tour of "Guys & Dolls". He then went on to tour with "The Producers", and made his Broadway conducting and playing debut last November with the record-breaking "The Illusionists: Turn of the Century.

Currently, Matthew Croft is serving as music director and pianist for "I Am, I Will, I Do" at NYMF 2017. He also recently completed runs of "I Love A Piano", "Altar Boyz", and "The Illusionists: Turn of the Century" as music director and keyboardist. He also is the on-call arranger for the Rondo String Quartet, and has written orchestrations for theaters all across the United States, Australia, the UK, and more.
