Bio

Born in Santos, Brazil, Marcelo started playing the electric bass during high school. His love for music led him to enroll at Souza Lima music conservatory where he began to learn the upright bass. In 2014 he transferred to Berklee College of Music with a scholarship where he graduated in 2017 with a Dual Degree in Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production with a Minor in Visual Arts.

At Berklee, Marcelo focused his studies on Jazz/Classical performance and music production. He was also able to study with great names like: Neal Smith, Tia Fuller, Dave Santoro, Jim Odgren, Ron Mahdi, Joe Carrier among others. He has since performed with great groups and musicians such as Berklee Contemporary Orchestra; The World Strings Orchestra with Tigran Hamasyan; Recording with Kenny Werner and Peter Eldridge Lush Ballads Album; and performances with a variety of groups and artists such as Vinyl Soul, Taylor and The Tin Cans, and Azat Bayazitov.

At the age of 24, Marcelo is living in New York where he works as a performer, teacher, composer and has just released his debut album "Looking Ahead" which mixes brazilian rhythmics with modern jazz creating a fusion between the two styles.
