Bio
Lavinia Pavlish is a New York City-based violinist. She has performed as a soloist with The Cleveland Orchestra in a series of education concert entitled Time Travel with the Cleveland Orchestra and premiered her own composition Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra with Cleveland's Contemporary Youth Orchestra for its tenth anniversary concert under music director Liza Grossman. Lavinia recently performed as a soloist alongside cellist Rose Bart with the Lake Tahoe Festival Orchestra at the Lake Tahoe Music Festival in 2017.
Lavinia co-founded and was as a member of the string quartet The Rhythm Method for three years. During her tenure with the group, the quartet became a finalist in the Victor Elmaleh Concert Artist Guild competition and gave successful performances and the Met Museum, Joe's Pub, The Onassis Cultural Center, Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Vox Hebraica Series. She has performed chamber music in Alice Tully Hall's Wednesdays at One series, the MOMA's Summergarden series, at the New York City Ballet's Choreographic Institute, and with pianist Han Chen for a performance with Troy Schumacher's Ballet Collective at the 92nd St. Y.
As an orchestral musician, Lavinia served as assistant concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra and has performed with various orchestras around New York including Riverside Symphony, Princeton Symphony, Center for Contemporary Opera, and Chamber Orchestra of New York.
Lavinia studied with Paul Kantor in the Cleveland Institute of Music preparatory program and continued her studies as an undergraduate student of Almita Vamos at Northwestern University. She completed her Masters Degree at Juilliard with Naoko Tanaka, where she studied chamber music with Lara Lev and Sylvia Rosenberg. She has participated in Crested Butte Music Festival, Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Lucerne Festival Academy, Spoleto Festival USA, Holland International Music Sessions, Music Academy of the West, and Aspen Music Festival and School.
Lavinia can be heard on various artists' albums including Meaghan Burke's brilliant new album, Creature Comforts, Brooklyn- based band MacGlidden's Fall into the Dark, and the original cast album of Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.
