Bio

Since moving to NYC over 20 years ago, Jonathan Mele has performed and/or recorded around the world with many well-known artists including: LCB, Kid Kyle, The Clovers, Gary Us Bonds, Freddy Cannon, Van Morrison, Steve Santoro, and David O’Rourke.

He owns Tunnel Street Studio, in which he writes music and records drum and percussion tracks for singers, songwriters, producers, and other musicians utilizing computers and the collaborative possibilities of the internet.

Further afield, Jon has written and performed music for modern dance, including work with Nicholas Leichter and NYU’s School of Dance. He has presented drum set masterclasses in the US, South America and Europe.

Jonathan is a Yamaha performing artist and endorses Sabian cymbals, Evans drumheads, and Vic Firth drumsticks.

Services Description

Jon is comfortable performing in a wide variety of styles from small group jazz to big band to theater to blues to doo-wop to rock to pop and funk. He's an excellent reader and also operates a studio in which he can record drums and/or percussion remotely for any project. Recent projects that have passed through include singer/songwriters, jingles, and big band/swing sessions.
