Bio

Drummer,composer,band leader Chris Parker,born in Chicago, arrived in New York in 1970. Recording with many artists and holding the drum chair on Saturday Night Live 1986-1992,Parker has toured the world with Stuff, Bob Dylan,Joe Cocker,Ashford & Simpson,the Akiko Yano Trio,and the Brecker Brothers Band,among many others.He completed his education at Juilliard,Western Connecticut University,Mannes,the School of Visual Arts and the New School. Early paid experience backing strippers was an education musically and anatomically and led to full time pursuit of music as a performer,recording artist,composer and educator.

Currently,Mr. Parker performs and records in the New York/New Jersey and Connecticut areas and in Japan.Last year he released the second Chris Parker Trio cd featuring Kyoko Oyobe,piano,Ameen Saleem,bass,and guest artist ,Randy Brecker on the NuNoise label. Recording credits include the hits,"Solid" by Ashford&Simpson,"Get Up Offa that Thing" by James Brown,and "Push It" by Salt n Pepa. Artists whom Parker has worked with include a wide range of talent from Miles Davis to Michael Franks,Aretha Franklin to Garth Brooks/Trisha Yearwood,Patti LaBelle to Cher. Parker also performs with ensembles, "The Sixties Show"and Manhattan City Music as well as the Chris Parker Trio and the Akiko Yano Trio.
